An exiting and unique opportunity has been newly created for Safety, Wellbeing and Diversity Advisor to join the People and Culture Team. Star Health will be a key tenant in the Victorian Pride Centre in June, and welcomes applicants whose values are aligned with inclusivity and diversity.     

Working Closely with the People and Culture Manager, the primary responsibility of the Safety, Wellbeing and Diversity Advisor to works with leaders and managers across the organisation to develop and enhance the physical, psychological and cultural safety of our people. 

To be suitable for the role you will possess the following:

  1. Extensive knowledge of approaches used within organisations for promoting healthy and safe working methods and practices in the workplace to ensuring health and safety compliance across the whole organisation.
  2. Experience spanning a range of health and wellbeing 'soft' and 'hard' skills: from WorkCover claims and Return to Work, to developing and implementing topical and regular safety campaigns, publications, training and activities; to coaching leaders and managers in effective diversity practices.
  3. Expereince ensuring health and safety compliance across the whole organisation, by identifying, recording and reporting hazards, accidents, injuries and health issues, and assisting with investigation of accidents, studying possible causes and providing remedial advice. 
  4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation,negotiation, conflict management, analytical problem solving and effective facilitation skills.

Ideally, you will possess:

  • A qualification in OHS such as a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or a Diploma of Work Health and Safety (or equivalents)
  • Proven experience as a Safety Officer, with exposure to and knowledge of Wellbeing, Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Current knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Government Regulations and Legislation
  • Current knowledge of Diversity & Inclusion initiatives and anti-discrimination Government Legislation. 
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Experience conducting incident investigation and reporting.
  • Experience in Injury Management and Workers Compensation
  • Understanding how the business can be supported through safety, wellbeing and diversity initiatives.
